Abstract
Nowadays, there are certain pathogenic organisms such as bacteria and fungi causing diseases in humans and animals. To combat these infections, the use of drugs is on rise which is ultimately causing ultidrug resistance of organisms to certain drugs of choice .to combat this issue there is a need of a different idea of approach and that is natural plants that have been used for centuries. The use of Lawsonia inermis as a dye has been used for centuries. To exploit its activity as an antimicrobial agent is the main objective of the study .This study compromises of using henna as antimicrobial agent by testing it on common pathogenic organisms by using agar well diffusion technique .The results shown in this study comprised that Lawsonia inermis has a good antimicrobial activity against gram negatives such as: E.coli, .typhimurium , P.mirabilis and P.aureginosa and that ability of henna leaves can be further studied ,it also has vast antifungal activity against fungal strains of Aspergillus niger. The ability of henna to act as antimicrobial agent could be a potential alternate therapy for most of the disease, and the main advantage would be the least amount of side effects on the body. Thus the lawsonia inermis needs to be studied and to explore its more attributes as an antimicrobial agent.
